Annual Update!

SOoo it has been just over a year since my last update, and luckily now I have an update. I've been keeping busy with a part-time job and some freelance work: last winter I had an opportunity to join forces with some creative minds in order to form a business with the goal of helping local authors self publish (Splattered Ink Press) My role as illustrator has been a very exciting first step into the world of professional art. With all the work done and the inevitable battle over file specs with the printers concluded, my first children's book, "Wiggly William goes to School," is being printed and is available for purchase presently. This also means that the sketches that have been thus far "confidential" are now available for public viewing, so here is a sneak peak of Wiggly William.

Here are just a couple of many preliminary sketches, figuring out character designs for wiggly and some of his friends. The snail isn't really relevant...I just like him.

Next are a few rough sketches of the pages, sans ink & color:

And a few of the ink, scanned, and colored finished product. Truth be told, I was bummed that the author preferred a very simple, time (and cost) effective digital coloring method. At some point I'd love to do a similar project with everything inked and colored by hand.

Books are available on Amazon.com, although I will have a personal stockpile that I plan on making available to family and friends who would prefer to purchase directly from me. Now that there is actual work coming in, I'll make a stronger effort to post more frequently.

Mass Upload!

I realize that I've been extremely negligent in maintaining my blog, but I've just uploaded a few Pieces from my past couple semesters along with some of what's going on in my sketchbook. I'm painting fairly prolifically this semester, so hopefully there will be more to come in May.
